Music coming up at The Duke

After a quieter couple of weeks whilst everyone enjoys their summer hols (including many of our brilliant local artists), we are ready to pack out our calendar with live music here at The Duke again!

We are really excited about the next Mid-Week Blues session with The Rigmarollers. Billed as a 21st Century Speakeasy band, we think they are going to fit right in here! A trio with a massive sound, they put vocals, harmonica, guitar and sousaphone over an irresistible backbeat. We can't wait to boogie the night away with them on 28 August from 8:30pm. So dig out your best Bugsy Malone outfit and join us!

Sliding to the other end of the vibe scales, we are also introducing live music as often as possible to our Sundays. Now open every week from 12 noon, we will continue to welcome the superb John Parker and his jazz friends once a month. In between, we are lining up a regular rotation of acoustic musicians who will join us from mid-afternoon to sooth your Sundays with chilled tunes. It's the perfect way to relax and let your delicious Sunday roast go down - which we serve every week now from 12:30pm. You can book to secure your table, or just come on down.

Moving forwards we will try and ensure Friday night is Live Music Night here at The Duke at least a couple of times a month. Starting with the bluesy brilliance of Rich Young on Friday 30 August. The perfect way to start your weekend.

And of course music doesn't always have to be live to enjoy it. Our monthly music bingo nights celebrate all there is to love about pop culture whilst giving you the chance to win some cash as well! Held on the last Saturday of the month from 8pm, we always have a food offer on alongside the bingo so you can make a night of it.

And of course never forgetting our favourite night of the week - Ipswich Jam Nights! They make Thursdays the new Fridays, showcasing a wealth of fab local talent, with musicians from 9 to nearly 90 playing together. It really goes back to the roots of how pubs have grown the local music scene over the centuries and we're super proud to host the longest running jam session around. Organised expertly by the wonderful Webby and his team, it's a musical family that welcomes everyone into its fold and is always keen to encourage new faces, so if you want to play, or just listen, come on down and be a part of it. We kick off from 8pm every week, just come in a bit beforehand to get your name on the player's list if you would like to get up and jamming!

Ipswich really does have a superb music scene (we have lived in many places before here, and none have come close!) so we are determined to do all we can to help celebrate it, in the best place to see a gig - your friendly local pub. It's the only place you can enjoy the wealth of musical talent on offer for as little as the price of a few pints!
