The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a few changes to the socials, website and personnel here at The Duke recently. Just over four weeks ago, Sally and Roy took the reins, after Hannah moved on to pastures new. We wish her every success in her future adventures!
Making the move from North Devon, where they ran a village pub, Sally and Roy snapped up the management opportunity at The Duke as it allows them to be closer to family who are based in Suffolk.
Whilst there will be changes, they promise to keep the feel of The Duke alive, with regular live music, great ales, lagers, ciders, craft beers and all the usual entertainment such as the monthly pub quiz, weekly Ipswich Jam Night, Mid Week Blues and Sunday jazz sessions. And of course the friendly faces of your usual team - the fabulous Sam and Charlie.
A month in, the main changes are a complete re-furb of the pub kitchen, so we can start offering a brand new menu alongside our ever-popular pizzas. The new food offering will be making the most of Big Ed, our wood-fired smoker, which was imported from the US. It offers the opportunity to slow-smoke meat and other offerings such as our vegan chilli to perfection. Alongside this, we will be offering our range of delicious burgers, fish Fridays and a smokehouse Sunday roast!
Watch this space for updates on when the kitchen will be open for business. In the meantime we will continue to serve our great fresh pizzas, Wednesday to Saturday.
